In this project i was required to make a positive impact to the early cognitive development of infants, typically between the ages of 0-3 years old on the African continent.  Many good quality toys are available for early cognitive development, however these high quality mass produced toys are expensive and therefore beyond the reach of poor people and their infants.  so i had to overcome this problem by designing a toy and instructs people how to make the toy for themselves using found and recycled materials. the toy had to be easy to make by parents or caregivers as the majority of them may not have any skills.

I tested different materials to see which ones would be suitable to use, as well as different materials for the wheels and axles of the toy.
